What we do | Women’s CHAI Project CIC Women’s CHAI Project was founded in 2011 by Najma Khalid over a cup of chai/tea. CHAI stands for Care, Help And Inspire and that is what we aspire to achieve through our work with the groups. The Women’s CHAI Project cares about its members and the community, helping and inspiring them to make a difference. We aim to empower women to function at maximum levels as mothers and females. It raises awareness of the importance of wellbeing and ensures mothers are better equipped to make a difference to their children, themselves and the community. The schools have found that CHAI is key for parental engagement, and that if the parents wellbeing improves so does the childrens leading to the children doing better at school. The CHAI Project runs a variety of activities from arts and crafts, theatre to seminars with Doctors. The Chai project helps women in many ways, i.e reducing Isolation, building confidence, gaining employment, gaining new skills and much much more. The project outreach so far has reached the thousands through a variety of various projects over the last 12 years. We currently run 6 women’s group in 7 schools on a weekly basis (term time) and have ran chai in 4 others schools in previous years. |
